Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Kerrisdale Skin Medical (“we,” “us,” “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit or make a purchase through shop.kerrisdaleskinmedical.com (the “Site”), when you interact with us in our clinic, or when you otherwise engage with our services.
We are a Canadian business based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and we handle personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act (British Columbia) (“PIPA”) and, where applicable, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”).
1. Personal information we collect
Device Information — When you visit the Site, we automatically collect information about your device and how you browse, including your browser type, IP address, general location, time zone, referring pages, and the pages or products you view. We collect this using:
- Cookies — small data files placed on your device. Learn more or manage them at allaboutcookies.org.
- Log files — server logs recording IP address, browser type, internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and timestamps.
- Pixels and tags — small pieces of code (from Google and Meta, described below) that tell us how you interact with pages and ads.
Order Information — When you place or attempt to place an order, we collect your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, and the products purchased. Card details are entered directly into our payment processor’s secure form and are never stored on our servers — see “Payment Processing” below.
Account Information — If you create an account on the Site, we store your name, email address, order history, and any saved addresses.
Treatment and Health Information — Separately from the online store, if you book a consultation or treatment, complete an intake or consent form, or communicate with our clinical staff, we collect health-related information relevant to your care (for example, skin concerns, relevant medical history, allergies, and treatment notes). This information is recorded in our practice management system (AestheticsPro), kept separate from ordinary Site browsing and order data, and used only for providing safe and appropriate care, scheduling, and legally required clinical recordkeeping. We do not use Treatment and Health Information for marketing or advertising without your separate, explicit consent.
Together, Device Information, Order Information, Account Information, and Treatment and Health Information are referred to as “Personal Information.”
2. How we use your personal information
We use Order Information to fulfill orders (processing payment, arranging shipping, and providing invoices and confirmations), communicate with you about your order, screen orders for potential risk or fraud, and — where you’ve agreed to receive it — send you marketing about our products, services, and promotions.
We use Device Information to help detect and prevent fraud, understand and improve how visitors use the Site, and measure the performance of our marketing and advertising.
We use Treatment and Health Information only as described above, for clinical care and recordkeeping.
3. Cookies and tracking technologies
We use the following tools on the Site:
- Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — to understand how visitors use the Site.
- Google Ads — for conversion tracking and remarketing.
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Pixel — to measure and deliver advertising on Meta platforms.
- Microsoft Clarity — which may record on-page behaviour, such as clicks, scrolling, and mouse movement, to help us understand and improve the Site.
- Mailchimp — to send order confirmations and, with your consent, marketing emails and SMS, including cart-abandonment reminders.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings, and opt out of specific tools at:
- Google Analytics: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
- Meta ad preferences: facebook.com/settings/?tab=ads
- Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada: youradchoices.ca
4. Payment processing
Payments on the Site are processed by Stripe, including Apple Pay and Google Pay through Stripe’s Express Checkout. We do not store your full card number on our servers. You can read Stripe’s privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
If you choose “pay-in-4” financing through Affirm, Klarna, or Afterpay at checkout, that provider — not us — determines your eligibility and manages your payment plan directly. We don’t process or store that information. These providers require you to be at least 18 years old and a resident of Canada.
5. Sharing your personal information
We share Personal Information with service providers who help us run the Site and our business, including:
- our web hosting provider (SiteGround), which stores Site data on our behalf;
- Stripe, to process payments;
- ShipStation, to generate shipping labels and manage order fulfillment;
- Mailchimp, to send transactional and marketing communications;
- Google (Analytics, Ads, and Tag Manager) and Meta, as described above;
- Microsoft Clarity, for on-page behaviour analysis; and
- AestheticsPro, our clinic management system, for booking and treatment records.
We may also disclose Personal Information to comply with applicable law, respond to a subpoena, warrant, or other lawful request, or to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our clients.
We do not sell your Personal Information.
6. Behavioural advertising
We use Device Information to show you ads for our products and services that we think may interest you, through Google Ads and Meta. You can learn more about how this works, and opt out, at the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada: youradchoices.ca.
7. Do Not Track
We do not currently alter our data collection or use practices when we receive a “Do Not Track” signal from your browser.
8. Your privacy rights
If you are a resident of Canada, you have the right to request access to the Personal Information we hold about you, request that we correct inaccurate Personal Information, withdraw consent to our collection, use, or disclosure of your Personal Information (subject to legal or contractual restrictions), and ask questions or make a complaint about how we handle your Personal Information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
9. Data retention and storage
We keep Order Information for as long as needed for our business and legal recordkeeping purposes (including tax and accounting requirements), unless you ask us to delete it and we are not required to keep it. Treatment and Health Information is retained in accordance with applicable clinical recordkeeping requirements.
Personal Information may be stored or processed outside of Canada — for example, by service providers based in the United States (such as Stripe, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Mailchimp) — and may therefore be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, including potential access by their government authorities.
10. Minors
Our online store is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information through the Site from anyone under the age of 16; if you are under 16, please use the Site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. Separately, our third-party financing partners (Affirm, Klarna, and Afterpay) independently require you to be at least 18 and a resident of Canada to use “pay-in-4” financing at checkout.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices, or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will post the updated version here with a new “Last updated” date.
